Crane Safety Inspection Checklist - What to Check Before Every Use
Daily pre-operation crane inspection is one of the most important safety measures in industrial facilities. Most crane-related accidents can be prevented through regular inspections and proper maintenance practices.
The daily pre-operation checklist should cover the following key areas: inspect wire ropes or chains for wear, breakage, or deformation; check hooks for cracks, throat opening, or other damage; verify that all brakes are functioning properly; and test every limit switch.
For the electrical system, inspect wiring for damage, ensure all connections are secure, and verify the grounding system is working correctly. Test the remote control or pendant to confirm all buttons function properly, especially the Emergency Stop button.
Structural inspection includes the crane beam, runway rails, trolley assembly, and all mounting points. There must be no cracks, severe corrosion, or deformation. If any abnormality is found, stop operation immediately and notify the maintenance team.
D2 Cranes recommends annual inspections by qualified engineers in addition to daily checks, to ensure the crane system complies with safety standards and applicable regulations.
