Aluminum Smelter - Ingot Handling Crane System
Aluminum - Rayong Province, Thailand
Challenge
An aluminum smelter needed to replace existing cranes for handling molten and finished aluminum ingots. The cranes operated near furnaces in high-temperature zones and had to support continuous 3-shift operations.
Solution
D2 Cranes designed special heat-resistant double girder cranes with thermal insulation on the bridge beam, special-grade wire ropes, and cooling systems for motors and control panels.
Scope of Work
- 2 heat-resistant double girder cranes (30 and 50 ton capacity)
- Thermal insulation on bridge beam and walkways
- Special heat-resistant grade wire ropes
- Cooling systems for motors and control panels
- Operator cabin with air conditioning and heat-resistant glass
Result
The cranes operated efficiently across 3 shifts, 24 hours a day. Motor and control panel temperatures remained within normal range despite operating near furnaces exceeding 700 degrees Celsius.
