Pipe Mill - Pipe and Billet Handling Crane
Steel & Pipe - Prachinburi Province, Thailand
Challenge
A pipe mill needed cranes for handling steel pipes up to 12 meters long and heavy billets. Special lifting attachments were required to prevent pipe bending during lifts, and the cranes had to work with a continuous production line.
Solution
D2 Cranes designed double girder cranes with special spreader beams to distribute the load of long pipes. Twin hoists were mounted on the same bridge for balanced lifting.
Scope of Work
- 3 double girder cranes (15 and 25 ton capacity)
- Adjustable spreader beams
- Twin hoist system for balanced pipe lifting
- Twin hoist synchronization control
- 120-meter runway installation
- System commissioning and operator training
Result
The spreader beam and twin hoist system enabled safe lifting of long pipes without bending. Production efficiency increased by 25% through reduced handling time.
